Reflection
Reflecting back on what we have studied this year, I would have liked to live during the Antebellum period, or the time period after the war of 1812 but before the Civil War, as a "Yankee". I chose this time period because I thought it would be extremely helpful if I could take part in the abolitionist movement and help push for freedom and equality with the other abolitionists living in this time era. Also, around this time period, there was a lot of urbanization going on. I think it is also a good time period to live in because women and girls were starting to get a little bit of education and are more knowledgeable about the world around them. At this time, there were many railroads being built and many new inventions, which would make life easier and more convenient than other time periods. There were also many things going on in the political point of view, such as the slavery issue, the Fugitive Slave Act, and the Compromise of 1850.
