"We have always lived in Vietnam"

"We used to have fried rice for breakfast everyday."
What major changes took place in the world during your childhood?
"I was born in 1969, when Neil Armstrong landed on the moon."
What cultural food and traditions are celebrated in your family?
"Tet (Lunar New Year). We ate rice cakes, watermelon, chicken, coconuts, and roast meat."
Describe how education has changed during your lifetime.
"Vietnamese kids used to learn Russian as their only foreign language. Now they are able to learn English and French."
Was education stressed in your family? Please explain.
"Yes, my parents always emphasized the importance of education."
What would you LIKE students to learn in school that you feel in important?
"Science, such as biology, anatomy, and pharmacology."
Major events that occurred during your life that impacted society and/or government most? (i.e. Civil Rights movement, Space Program, Leaders, Conflicts, etc.)
"The U.S./Vietnam normalization on 1995 and the Vietnam War."
What was your first paying job?
"My first paying job was a doctor (Pediatrician)."

"No"

How has technology changed during your lifetime?
"We used to have no computers or internet. Now we have computers and internet at home."
What was your favorite type of music when you were in school?
"I liked the music of the 1980’s and classical music."
What books were required reading in school?
"No books were required to read in school, but I liked to read roman stories."
Do you believe music, art, and literature have impacted your generation?
"Yes. We learned foreign languages by singing songs in English, Russian, and French."

"We are the highest educated among our cousin’s families."
